I was born in León, Guanajuato, México. I have been creating alebrijes for over 25 years for private collectors and museums around Mexico and the US. The overwhelmingly positive response I get for my artwork reminds me how blessed I am for having such a beautiful talent, humbles me to the core and inspires me to create more and better art that represents my roots and essence. Colors are my inspiration, animals are fascinating and I mix them in a playful way, just to see what happens. My work doesn’t end there, to me, each alebrije has to say something or be doing something. I capture them in the middle of an action, like we’re secretly observing them from a distance: they fight, they roar, they dance, they walk, the hug, they kiss… and most importantly, they inspire and represent.
